Creek Wood High School competed in its first TSSAA bowling match last week with the Lady Red Hawks winning big and the Red Hawks falling in a close contest. The new teams at Creek Wood played their first match at Thunder Alley against District 14 opponent White House-Heritage High School. A sanctioned high school bowling match consists of three games featuring six competitors from each school. Points are awarded for individual head-to-head wins, most pins during each game and most pins in the series for a possible total of 27 points. The Lady Red Hawks dropped only three of 18 matches against Heritage in winning 24-3. Creek Wood won five of six games in the first match, swept all six in the second and went 4-2 in the third, also winning all the points for pinfalls. The boys took four of six games in the first set and won on pins for a 6-2 lead, but saw Heritage battle back to split the second set and win the pinfall points, then take five games in the third set to pull out a 17-10 win over the Red Hawks. Creek Wood will host its second match of its first season Thursday when Jo Byrns visits Thunder Alley.
