Creek Wood’s Red Hawks saw their seven-game winning streak snapped as Waverly remained undefeated in District 11-AA with a 75-54 victory in Charlotte Tuesday. Waverly sweeps the season series after having beaten Creek Wood by five points in December. The Red Hawks had won seven straight to start 2014, including six consecutive district games to pull into third place in the standings. After a tight first quarter saw Waverly leading only 17-15, the bigger, more physical Tigers began to pull away to build a 10-point lead by halftime and continued extending the margin through the second half. Creek Wood connected on a total of 11 three-pointers but Waverly had an answer for every run the Red Hawks tried. Isaac Edmondson led Creek Wood with 22 points while Ross Cummings added 10. The Lady Red Hawks kept their district record unblemished at 12-0 with a 65-27 thrashing of Waverly. Creek Wood held the Lady Tigers to just five points in the second period and three points in the third to put the game away early. Rachel Bell scored a game-high 23 points while Leah Grubb hit four three-pointers for 12 points and McKenzie Broadway had a trio of treys in her 10. Creek Wood ventures outside the district to face Harpeth on the road at 6 pm Saturday before wrapping up the regular season with four straight district opponents.
