It took a dramatic rally in the last inning then extra innings to keep Dickson County’s Cougars in the winners bracket of the District 10-AAA baseball tournament Friday. Trailing Northwest 3-0 heading into the seventh and final inning, the Cougars rallied with three runs to tie the game. In the ninth, Cougar Will Harmon broke out of a long slump at the plate with the hit to score the game-winning run in a 4-3 victory. The Cougars advance to face Rossview at 7 pm today at Rossview. Dickson County softball cruised past Rossview 6-0 in the opening round of the District 10-AAA softball tournament Friday. The top-seeded Lady Cougars will host Northeast today at 5:30. Creek Wood’s Lady Red Hawks slipped past Cheatham County 6-5 Friday in the District 11-AA softball tournament as Becky Melton got the game-winning RBI. The Lady Red Hawks travel to Stewart County today in the Creek Wood Softball Game of the Week on the RFC Sports Network at 5 pm with pregame coverage at 4:45. District soccer action begins today as Dickson County hosts Northeast at 6 pm and Creek Wood hosts Greenbrier at 6:00 in a game delayed from Saturday. Dickson County Lady Cougar Sheridan Gray claimed the District 10-AAA singles title Saturday by beating Rossview’s Alainah Campbell 1-6, 6-4, 6-3. Gray moves on to the region tennis tournament.
