Dickson County High School graduate JeQuan Lewis had his first double-digit effort as 14th-ranked Virginia Commonwealth University rolled over Winthrop 92-71 Saturday. Lewis scored 11 points on three-of-seven shooting from the floor while hitting five of seven free throws in 16 minutes of play. The former Cougar added four rebounds, two assists and three steals for the Rams, who improved to 3-0. Earlier last week, Lewis scored five points in a big 59-56 win over 25th-ranked Virginia. VCU heads to San Juan this week to play in the ESPN Puerto Rico Tip Off tournament. The Rams open the eight-team tournament against Florida State at 6:30 pm Thursday on ESPNU. The winner gets the Michigan-Long Beach State winner on Friday while the losers meet in the consolation bracket. Michigan was seventh in the AP poll before losing to Iowa State Sunday night. Also in the tournament are Georgetown, Northeastern, Kansas State and Charlotte.
