JeQuan Lewis set a new tournament scoring record as the Dickson County Cougars won the title in their division of the State Farm Tournament of Champions over the holidays in Peoria, Illinois. Lewis was named Most Valuable Player as Dickson County rolled to three straight wins. Lewis scored 16 Thanksgiving night as DCHS trounced Mooseheart High School out of Illinois 52-39 in the opener of the Uftring Auto Group Invitational. On Friday, Lewis smashed the tournament scoring record as he ripped Grandview High School of Missouri with 50 points in a 72-50 victory. In Saturday’s division championship, Lewis scored 24 points but it was Tyler Primm’s three-pointer with six seconds remaining that gave the Cougars the title in a 56-54 win over Alton Marquette. Lewis’ 50 points Friday night smashed the tournament scoring record of 42 previously set by Marshall County’s Kedren Johnson, who now plays at Vanderbilt. The Cougars return to action Friday at Henry County.
