Rep. Mary Littleton

Mary Littleton of Dickson officially began her term as the new 78th District member of the Tennessee House of Representatives when the 108th Tennessee General Assembly convened last week. Littleton and 22 other new representatives were sworn in Tuesday. She was elected in November to the new 78th District that includes the eastern portion of Dickson County and all of Cheatham County. “It was a great experience,” Littleton said of her first day. “I feel honored and thankful to have this position. I know there will be many hard decisions ahead, but I look forward to being a part of the process. I plan to work with the mayors, commissioners, councilmen and councilwomen, and other leaders in my district.” Newly re-elected House Speaker Beth Harwell appointed Littleton to the House Transportation and Health committees. “I am honored to be appointed to these committees by House Speaker Beth Harwell,” Littleton said. “I appreciate her confidence in my and I thank the people of Dickson and Cheatham counties for allowing me the opportunity to serve.” Democrat David Shepard, who began his seventh term representing the 69th District Tuesday, also was appointed to the Health Committee as well as the Insurance and Banking Committee. The 69th District includes the western half of Dickson County, all of Hickman County and a portion of Maury County.
