A man is reported to have died as a result of injuries he suffered in a Friday night fire at the Dickson Apartments. The identity of the victim has not been released. The Dickson Fire Department responded to a fire call at the apartment complex on Blurton Drive off of Pump Hill Road around 10 pm Friday and found one apartment on fire and heavy smoke reported in several others. Firefighters said the fire appears to have started in the kitchen of one unit near the stove but a cause has not been determined. The man was pulled from the burning apartment and flown by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was reported to have died from his injuries Sunday. At least 15 people in four families were forced from their homes in other units due to smoke and water damage. The American Red Cross and Dickson County Help Center were assisting them with temporary housing. The death is the fourth fire-related death in Dickson County in a year. Today marks the one-year anniversary of the death of Peggy Clarkson June 24, 2011, when fire destroyed her Eastwood Road home. Matthew B. Neal died when fire destroyed his Loggins Road home outside Charlotte July 11. That fire is the focus of an ongoing investigation. Michael Hudgins died in May when fire consumed his home on Highway 49 in Vanleer.
