The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says an infant girl was likely already dead when the mother’s boyfriend dropped her off at a relative’s home in Dickson Thursday morning. The TBI was called in to handle the investigation by District Attorney Dan Alsobrooks because it was not immediately clear where the child’s death actually occurred. The baby’s biological mother and father are both in jail on unrelated charges and are not suspected to be involved in the girl’s death. Dickson police responded to a 911 call to a duplex at 117B Brookside Drive in Dickson Thursday morning when the mother’s boyfriend, whose name has not been released, dropped the child off with a relative and said he had fallen on the child. The family discovered the child was not breathing and called 911. Attempts to revive the girl were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead. Her body has been sent for an autopsy to determine a cause of death. The boyfriend has been taken into police custody as a “person of interest” but has not yet been charged. According to family members, the child is one of six children and the other five are now in Department of Children’s Services custody. A TBI spokesperson said the child is believed to be one year old.
