The Dickson County Branch of the NAACP will be hosting a social day and membership drive Saturday at Lakeview Park. The event will be noon-4 pm Saturday at the park overlooking City Lake. Anyone interested in learning more about the history, mission and activities of the local branch is invited to stop by and meet some of its members and leadership. Branch President Mary Wright said the NAACP has a long history of fighting for civil rights and seeking justice for civil wrongs. Saturday’s event will include free food, cakewalks, horseshoes, basketball, karaoke and performances by anyone who would like to sing, dance, recite poetry or anything else. Wright said the event is open to people of all races and ages who share in the organization’s mission of equality.
