Contract negotiations with the Dickson County School Board’s top choice to become the next director of schools are not complete and the board has scheduled another meeting for Monday. At a called meeting Thursday night, board Chairman Tim Potter said negotiations with Dr. Danny Weeks are “still ongoing” and there was no action to be taken by the board. The board voted unanimously to adjourn its meeting until 6 pm Monday. Weeks is also one of four candidates for the director’s job in Robertson County, where he has been assistant director of schools for seven years. The Robertson County School Board also is scheduled to meet Monday to narrow its search down to two candidates with another round of interviews scheduled for April 23. After Thursday’s meeting, Potter said he plans to tell Weeks that the Dickson County School Board needs an answer to its offer by Monday. Should the board not be able to come to terms with Weeks, it could then vote to begin contract talks with Dr. Vivian McCord, currently the director of federal programs for the school system. After interviewing four candidates, the board selected Weeks and McCord as its top two choices, then voted to begin contract talks with Weeks. The adjourned session of the school board is set for 6 pm Monday in the Board of Education central office in Dickson.
