New district means big changes to Dickson County Cougars’ 2013 football schedule

With the TSSAA’s new alignment of schools taking effect this fall, Dickson County High School’s 2013 football schedule takes on a whole new look. Moving from the current nine-team District 10 to the new seven-team District 11 means the Cougars will play four non-district games. The new district also will mean a new kickoff time for most DCHS football games. The Cougars will continue with the week zero intracounty rivalry with Creek Wood, kicking off the season in Charlotte Aug. 23 with the fifth game of the series. Dickson County starts a three-game homestand the next week with a visit from Columbia, the only other team that remains from recent season schedules. The Cougars’ first District 11 game is Sept. 6 with a visit from Franklin. To fill out the schedule, coach Troy Williams added a two-year, home-and-home contract with Houston High School, which starts this year in Dickson and travels to Germantown next year. The Cougars travel the next week to Brentwood then follow that with their final non-district game at Wilson Central Sept. 27. October closes out the season with four straight district games: Summit comes for Homecoming Oct. 4, a trip to Ravenwood is set for Thursday, Oct. 10, then its Independence here and finish the season at Centennial Oct. 25. Dickson County’s open date is once again on Week 10 before the playoffs start. In the new schedule, only the Creek Wood game has the usual 7:30 kickoff time. The remaining nine games are all scheduled to begin at 7:00. With one road game in Charlotte, the Cougars only leave Dickson County four times this season: three trips to Williamson County and one trip to Wilson County.
