White Bluff’s new Strategic Planning Committee is scheduled for its first meeting tonight. The new committee is being formed to put together a plan of improvements and services for the town over the next five years as well as to discuss avenues for creating new revenue to fund them. Former Councilman Allen Johnson, whose term expired last month, suggested the formation of the new committee to update the town’s five-year plan it created four years ago. Mayor Linda Hayes, who was re-elected Nov. 6, asked council members to make suggestions and for volunteers to serve on a 10-15-member committee. At last month’s council meeting, Projects Coordinator Jeff Martin presented the council with a list of 14 names of people proposed to be on the committee. In addition to Hayes, Johnson and Martin, the list includes Vice Mayor Todd Hamilton, Travis Plotzer, David Martin, Neil Trice, Susan James, Renea Veach, Rebecca Jannsan, Joanna Swiger, Linda Pearson, Leonard Belmares and Dianne Hotvedt. White Bluff officials conducted an online survey for ideas to present to the planning committee and received 173 responses prior to last week’s deadline, which represents just under 14 percent of the town’s 1,254 households. The new Strategic Planning Committee meets at 7:00 tonight in White Bluff Town Hall.
