The primary suspect in the New Year’s night shooting at a Dickson hotel was captured Sunday following a two-county chase in West Tennessee. 23-year-old Justin Keith Treece was transported to Dickson County where he faces felony murder and attempted first-degree murder charges for the Jan. 1 shootings of Matthew Draper and Cody Jackson at the Holiday Inn Express off Highway 46 near Interstate 40. McNairy County Sheriff Guy Buck reports deputies spotted Treece’s Chevy Blazer near Enville on the McNairy-Chester county line Sunday afternoon and a pursuit began. During the chase, Treece’s vehicle broke down and he fled on foot into a wooded area. Buck says deputies tracked Treece for more than a mile in rugged terrain before he surrendered near Pickens Road in McNairy County. Police had interviewed Treece’s girlfriend, 20-year-old Jessie Mulder, on Saturday after she showed up at her mother’s house in Selmer and a police statement says she “is cooperating in the investigation.” Investigators have not released a motive for Tuesday’s shooting but do believe Treece and Mulder drove from McNairy County specifically to meet Draper and Jackson, cousins from Hartsville. Draper died from his wounds and Jackson has since been released from Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Officials in McNairy County say Treece has been arrested several times since 2009 including drug offenses and probation violation charges. The statement says investigators will be meeting with McNairy and Hardin county authorities this week “to gather intelligence on this case.” Treece is being held in the Dickson County Jail with an arraignment scheduled Thursday in Dickson Municipal Court. Detective Chad Fussell said Mulder is not facing any charges “at this time.”
