A Dickson Police Department officer recently placed on leave while the subject of an internal investigation is no longer working for the department. While Dickson Chief Rick Chandler has not commented on the nature of the investigation into Officer Jerl “Dee” Richardson, he said Tuesday the officer is “no longer employed” by the department and the information from that internal investigation is being prepared for presentation to the district attorney’s office. A Nashville television station first reported last week that Richardson had been placed on administrative leave with pay while the department conducted an internal investigation into allegations of misconduct by Richardson. Chandler would not comment on the nature of the investigation or the allegations against Richardson other than to say it did involve alleged actions while on duty. A Waverly resident, Richardson has been with the Dickson Police Department since June 2010. Tuesday afternoon Chandler confirmed that Richardson is no longer working with the department but would not say whether he was terminated or resigned. The results of the internal investigation reportedly will be presented to the DA’s office for review for possible presentation to the grand jury.
