A handmade Persian rug that was apparently stolen from a downtown Dickson church was recovered at a local antique store just two blocks away. Dickson police have charged a Kingston Springs man with stealing the rug. According to a Dickson Police Department report, the one-of-a-kind rug was discovered missing from the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church at 212 North Main Street on June 26 and was believed to have been taken sometime earlier that week. The report says church officials placed the value of the handmade rug at $2,500. The report says the rug was recovered last week at Bus Stop Antiques at 103 East Rickert Avenue, just two blocks north of the church. The report says the store purchased the rug for $25 from 41-year-old Robert Wagner of Wildlife Trail in Kingston Springs. Det. Chad Fussell obtained warrants charging Wagner with burglary and theft and he was arrested earlier this week. Wagner was being held in the Dickson County Jail on $5,000 bond with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Aug. 8 in Dickson Municipal Court.
