Police say a dispute inside a local bar continued into the parking lot Thursday night and led to a man being shot in the leg. The victim, whose name has not been released, was treated at Horizon Medical Center for a gunshot wound to his left leg and released, according to a statement released by the Dickson County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators have charged 36-year-old Kenyatras Rontay Payne of Madison Ridge Boulevard in Dickson with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and vandalism. The statement says deputies were dispatched to at shooting in the parking lot of The Wanted Saloon at 2840 Highway 70 East in Dickson around 11 pm Thursday where the discovered the wounded adult male. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division responded and through interviews quickly developed a suspect in the shooting, according to the report. Sheriff Jeff Bledsoe says through the team efforts of the sheriff’s office, Dickson Police Department and 23rd Judicial District Drug Task Force, officers were able to locate Payne and take him into custody where he was booked into the Dickson County Jail around 4 am Friday. The statement says police believe the incident started as a confrontation inside the saloon and later continued in the parking lot where they believe at least four shots were fired. The statement says the circumstances of that confrontation remain under investigation. Payne was released Thursday on $95,000 bond and faces an appearance in Dickson County General Sessions Court on July 11.
