Police search area around nursing homes after man tries to steal television from room

Dickson police searched the area around the two nursing homes on North Charlotte Street Tuesday morning after an employee at one of the homes reported a man trying to steal a television. NHC Healthcare was locked down around 5:30 this morning after a worker said a man was trying to carry a television out of one of the rooms. Police swarmed the area searching for the suspect who walked out of the facility without the television after being confronted by an employee. Police were looking for a white male with a goatee wearing a red shirt, black sweatpants and a ballcap. The worker said the man had already unplugged a television and was trying to pick it up when she confronted him. While she sought help, the man walked out into the parking lot and vanished. The nursing home was temporarily locked down while police searched the area around both nursing homes and the Dickson County High School and Dickson Middle School Annex campuses. No suspect was located and police said they would continue with increased patrols in the area of the nursing homes.
