Police search for West Tennessee couple on the run after New Year’s night shooting

Justin Keith Treece and Jessie Mulder

Dickson investigators believe a young West Tennessee couple wanted in connection with a New Year’s night shooting is on the run and might have left the state. On Thursday, Dickson Police Department Detective Chad Fussell issued a statement saying police are searching for 23-year-old Justin Keith Treece of Enville, Tenn., and his 20-year-old girlfriend, Jessie Mulder, of Selmer. Warrants for felony murder and attempted first-degree murder have been issued for Treece and Fussell said Mulder is a “person of interest” in the investigation into the Tuesday night shooting death of 29-year-old Matthew Draper and wounding of 23-year-old Cody Jackson in a Dickson hotel parking lot. Despite being shot, Jackson drove himself and Draper to Horizon Medical Center following the shooting at the Holiday Inn Express off Highway 46. The pair was able to identify Treece as the shooter. Draper died from his wounds and Jackson was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center but has since been released. Police have not released any details on what led to the shooting but do believe that Treece and Mulder drove almost 100 miles from McNairy County to Dickson specifically to meet Draper and Jackson, who are cousins from Hartsville, Tenn., in Trousdale County. On her Facebook page, Mulder says she is a 2010 graduate of Adamsville High School, which is in McNairy County while Treece is from Enville, a tiny town that straddles the McNairy-Chester county line. Police are working with authorities in McNairy County to locate the couple but also have alerted law enforcement agencies across the region in case they have fled the state. Police said Treece is believed to be armed and the couple was last seen leaving the Dickson area in a red or maroon two-door Chevy Blazer with Tennessee tag 830-VSM. Police ask that anyone having contact with the couple contact a local law enforcement agency immediately and anyone with information on their whereabouts to contact Fussell at 441-9577.
