Police warning residents about suspicious persons reported knocking on doors

Dickson police are warning residents to be wary of strangers who come to their doors. The department has received several reports recently in the Highway 46 South and Pomona Road area of suspicious persons attempting to gain entry into homes by claiming to be selling magazines or other products and services. There have been reports of two white males, described as “rough looking,” with long hair and tattoos on their necks and hands, attempting to talk their way into homes. The men claim to be selling magazines but none of the complainants has seen any relevant materials. Some people have reported once inside the home the suspects become more aggressive and begin asking questions about other people being present in the home. One subject was observed looking inside a complainant’s car as he left. Police are warning residents not to let strangers into the home and to keep their screen or storm doors locked when talking to someone. Police have increased patrols in the area of the reports and ask residents who have anyone suspicious come to their doors to call police immediately at 446-8041 extension 4. Police warn that as the holiday season approaches, they expect more similar reports.
