Thursday afternoon’s severe weather moved through the area quickly but left hundreds of people without power in its wake. Dickson Electric System reported a “significant outage” was caused by a tree that was blown over on North Charlotte Street, leaving widespread outages in the central part of the city of Dickson up to the southern part of the Charlotte area. Most of the damage left behind was trees and limbs broken. Heavy rain passed through the area with gusty winds Thursday afternoon and there were reports of dime-sized hail in the northwestern part of Dickson County. The tree that fell on North Charlotte Street knocked down utility lines. Thursday night, DES reported less than 500 customers in Dickson and Cheatham counties were still in the dark and crews would work through the night to restore service.
