After splitting two meetings in the regular season, Dickson County’s Cougars tangled with Ravenwood for third place in the District 11-AAA tournament and it was the Raptors who won the rubber match 67-47 at Independence Monday night. Hampered early by foul trouble and down a starter, the fifth-seeded Cougars stayed within striking distance for the first three quarters before Ravenwood pulled away in the final period. Playing without Tyriek Primm for the second game, the Cougars found themselves even more short-handed when Otis Gerron and Hunter Wolcott were forced to the bench with early fouls. After being up by as many as four points, the Cougars saw the lead slip away and trailed 35-26 at halftime. Dickson County trimmed the deficit to six by the end of the third at 42-36, but then ran out of gas as the Raptors blew up in the fourth, building a 20-point lead late in the game. Robert Triggs and Tracy Green led Dickson County with 11 points each. All-District player Nick Gleason led Ravenwood with 17. Despite going 1-2 in the district tournament, the 8-21 Cougars earned a spot in the Region 6-AA tournament and on Saturday will travel to the winner of tonight’s District 12-AAA championship between Hunters Lane and Cane Ridge for a 7 pm contest while Ravenwood travels to the loser. The winner of tonight’s District 11-AAA championship between Brentwood and Franklin will host Hillsboro while the loser hosts Hillwood. The region tournament moves to Glencliff starting Monday.
