After a slow start Tuesday night, Creek Wood’s Red Hawks put together a 17-point run to ignite a 65-22 blowout of Stewart County in the District 11-AA Tournament in Dover. Creek Wood built a 36-10 lead by intermission and a 56-14 advantage at the start of the fourth period put the mercy rule into effect. Rollie Plunkett led the Red Hawks with 18 points while Michael Morgan added 14 as nine players hit the scoring column. The win advances Creek Wood to the tourney semifinals on Friday where they will face Waverly for the third time this season. The Tigers pulled out two tough, single-digit wins over Creek Wood in the regular season. The top-seeded Lady Red Hawks will open Friday’s action at 4 pm against the winner of tonight’s Montgomery Central-Stewart County contest. The Red Hawks and Waverly will face off in the night’s late game scheduled for 8:30 pm in Dover. Both Dickson County High School teams ended up as the number two seeds for the District 10-AAA Tournament following Tuesday’s district meeting.
