Creek Wood’s Red Hawks open District 11-AA Tournament action at 7:30 tonight in Dover against a Rebels team they beat handily twice in the regular season. Creek Wood beat Stewart County by 38 points in Dover and 32 points in Charlotte just two weeks ago. With a 7-5 district record, the Red Hawks enter the tournament as the number three seed while Stewart County is seeded sixth in the seven-team district. The winner of tonight’s contest advances to Friday’s semifinals to meet second-seeded Waverly, a 71-49 winner over Montgomery Central Monday night. The Red Hawks battled Waverly in two close contests this season, but fell by nine points on the road and six points at home last week. A win tonight guarantees Creek Wood a berth in the regional tournament next week. The top-seeded Lady Red Hawks earned a bye into Friday’s semifinals where they await the winner of Wednesday’s Montgomery Central-Stewart County matchup. Dickson County’s Lady Cougars will host a quarterfinal game at 7 pm Thursday while the Cougars will play at 7:00 Friday in the District 10-AAA Tournament, with their opponents to be determined at a district meeting today.
