An art educator at The Renaissance Center has been named the National Art Education Association’s Southeastern Region Education Art Educator of the Year. The NAEA will present the award to Andrea Steele, associate director of fine arts at the center, during its national convention in Fort Worth, Texas, in March. Steele joined The Renaissance Center in September after having served as the educator for teacher and school programs at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts since 2001. A graduate of Lipscomb University with a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education and a Master’s Degree in Art Education from Ohio State University, Steele is involved in creating teacher training and professional development opportunities, developing field trip programming, creating an internship and assistant teacher program, curating art exhibitions and teaching arts enrichment classes at The Renaissance Center.
