The Renaissance Center’s Multimedia Department picked up an award for its work on a documentary about the Battle of Shiloh at Saturday night’s 27th annual Midsouth Regional Emmy Awards. Ken Tucker, director of post production for the department, won the Emmy in the Audio category. Shiloh: The Devil’s Own Day is part of a series of programs observing the 150th anniversary of the Civil War produced by The Renaissance Center and Nashville Public Television. Shiloh: The Devil’s Own Day depicted the impact on the war and the people of this country from one of the war’s bloodiest battles where 23,000 American lives were lost. The segment takes its title from a quote attributed to Union General William Tecumseh Sherman, who after Union forces lost ground the first day, reportedly said to Ulysses S. Grant, “Well, Grant, we’ve had the devil’s own day, haven’t we?” The Renaissance Center was nominated for eight Emmys at Saturday’s ceremony at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center.
