Breast care patients at TriStar Health’s Sarah Cannon Cancer Centers can now benefit from a new patient navigation program that provides a trained healthcare professional to guide and support patients and their families through the challenges of dealing with cancer. RN Andrea Lee is the new breast health nursing navigator at the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center at Natchez Medical Park in Dickson. TriStar has added Lee and four other navigators at all Sarah Cannon Cancer Centers in Middle Tennessee. The navigator is dedicated to bringing together all multidisciplinary team members involved in a patient’s care, leading to a quicker diagnosis and translating to faster treatment to give women a higher chance at survival, according to a TriStar statement. “I am proud to be a part of this program and honored to offer support and guidance to ladies facing breast cancer treatment,” said Lee, who has a background in psychology and medical research. Navigators coordinate communication between the patient and everyone involved in the diagnosis and treatment processes, provide follow-up and support for the patient.
