Local Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops will be installing benches at Veterans Memorial Park in White Bluff Saturday to complete the Eagle Scout project of Caleb Holman, who died this summer following a swimming pool accident. Holman was a member of Troop 593 and had completed all of the requirements to earn Eagle Scout except for his community service project. His fellow troop members voted to complete the project and Holman will be awarded the rank of Eagle Scout posthumously. Scout members and friends will be at the park on Highway 70 East 10 am-3 pm Saturday for the project. Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America. Holman, the 17-year-old son of White Bluff Police Chief Mike and Becky Holman, severed his spinal cord when he struck his head jumping into a swimming pool on July 4. He died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center five days later. An organ donor, soon after his death Holman’s heart valves, liver, kidneys, skin, corneas and tendons were harvested for donations to help save and improve other lives.
