Emergency personnel from Cheatham and Dickson counties along with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and Tennessee Highway Patrol are searching the Johnson Creek area off the Cumberland River for a Clarksville man who was reported missing Monday night. The 55-year-old man, whose name has not been released, had reportedly gone fishing in the area near Cheatham Dam but his wife reported him missing around 7:30 pm after he failed to return home. Cheatham County Emergency Management Agency Director Edwin Hogan said the man’s truck and trailer were found near Cheatham Dam Road near the Cheatham-Dickson county line. Personnel from both counties searched their sides of the river and the man’s empty boat was discovered around 10:30 pm on the Dickson County side. Rescue personnel continued to search along the banks and on the water Tuesday but late this morning Hogan said the focus of the search is shifting from rescue to recovery as it is now believed the man is most likely dead. Hogan said the missing man is known to have fished the Johnson Creek area frequently.
