Dickson County Sheriff’s Office investigators believe three late-night fires that damaged vehicles in the Charlotte area last week are connected. Detective Brent Johnson reports that vehicles on Stage and Hayshed roads suffered significant damage in fires around midnight Friday while a third vehicle on Alvin Dickson Road incurred minor damage. While investigators don’t believe the owners of the vehicles were specifically targeted and the arsons were random, they do believe they were all committed by the same person or persons. Sheriff Jeff Bledsoe said two of the vehicles were torched by stuffing toilet paper into the fill tubes of the gas tanks, which was then set on fire. Investigators believe a pickup truck was damaged when the unlocked interior was set on fire. The State Fire Marshal’s Bomb and Arson Division is assisting the sheriff’s office with the investigation. Anyone with information on the fires is asked to call Johnson at 789-4130.
