The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has officially declared the death of 21-year-old Ashlee Brook “Sissy” Long a homicide after preliminary autopsy results indicate she died from “blunt force trauma.” TBI spokesperson Kristin Helm said Wednesday that Long’s body was discovered in a bed at her 106 Bishop Lane home Saturday by her mother and step-father, Abigail and Kip Needham. Helm would not provide any further details regarding the ongoing investigation. It is not known whether investigators have been able to interview Long’s husband, 23-year-old Morris Lynn “Moe” Long Jr. Helm said he remains in Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition after being hit by a truck on Interstate 40 Saturday in what Metro Nashville Police called a suicide attempt near the McCrory Lane exit. According to Ashlee Long’s Facebook page, the couple was married Dec. 3, 2011, and have two small children. Funeral services for Ashlee Long were held Wednesday.
