Today is the last day to register to vote in the Nov. 6 election. Even though today is the federal holiday for Columbus Day, the Dickson County Election Office will be open 8 am-4 pm to accommodate last-minute registrations. The Nov. 6 ballot will include the election of President of the United States, a U.S. Senate seat, the U.S. House of Representatives seat for the 5th District, Tennessee House of Representatives seats for the 69th and 78th districts, and special elections for constable in the 4th Constable District and road commissioner in the 10th District. Additionally, the towns of Vanleer, White Bluff, Burns and Slayden will hold municipal elections and Charlotte will hold a referendum on allowing retail liquor stores. Early voting will be Oct. 17-Nov. 1 at sites in Dickson and Charlotte. Polls will be open 7 am-7 pm on election day, Tuesday, Nov. 6. There were just over 30,000 Dickson County residents registered to vote in the August primaries. For more information on voter registration, call the election office at 789-6021.
