The Dickson County Trustee’s Office will hold its final information session about the state and county tax relief program next week. Trustee Glynda Pendergrass will present information on the program that provides property tax relief to the elderly, disabled and disabled veterans or their surviving spouses at 9 am Tuesday at the Dickson Senior Citizens Center at 206 West Walnut Street. Pendergrass held similar sessions in Charlotte and White Bluff last month. In its 2013-14 budget, Dickson County has again set aside funds for the state program. Pendergrass will go over the eligibility requirements and enrollment procedures. For more information on the program or Tuesday’s informational meeting, call the Trustee’s office at 789-7006. Pendergrass also recently announced that a typographical error was made on the property tax notices that began going out this month. Information on the back of the notice states the county’s current property tax rate is $2.85 per $100 of assessed value. That was the county’s previous rate. For the 2013-14 fiscal year, the county commission changed the tax rate to $2.90. The chart showing the breakdown of the property tax dollars is correct and the calculations of taxes due by Feb. 28 is based on the correct current rate. Property taxes are now due and can be paid at the Courthouse Annex in Charlotte, satellite office on Main Street in Dickson or at White Bluff Town Hall.
