Two families lost everything when fire destroyed their home on Rock Church Road Tuesday. The Dickson County Rescue Squad responded to the blaze around 6 pm and found the home fully involved. The owner, his wife, a disabled son, a second son, his pregnant wife and seven-year-old daughter were all able to escape the fire. Firefighters rescued the family’s cat, which was given oxygen by medical responders using a mask for toddlers. Dickson County Help Center Director Renee Boehm reports the families lost everything in the blaze and have no insurance. The help center, Nana’s Closet and American Red Cross are working to provide temporary housing, clothing, household items, toiletries and food for the families. Boehm said anyone wishing to make a financial donation or donate household items for the families can contact Harriette Sensing at the help center at 441-0076. Donations also can be made online through givingmatters.org. Any donations to directly assist the affected families should be designated for “disaster relief.” The help center also is still helping three members of another Dickson County family that lost its home in a fire last week. No information on the fire or its cause was available from the Dickson County Rescue Squad.
