United Way hosting Mardi Gras Ball on Feb. 2 to boost 2013 campaign

United Way of Dickson County is hosting a Mardi Gras Ball on Saturday, Feb. 2, to raise funds for its 2013 campaign. The ball will be 6-10 pm at Events on Main. Tickets are $250 for a table for eight or $35 per person. The Mardi Gras Ball will feature authentic Gulf Coast fare such as jambalaya and the traditional Mardi Gras King Cake, as well as traditional selections such as glazed ham. The evening will include live music, the selection of Dickson County’s first king and queen of Mardi Gras as well as information on the United Way campaign and partner agencies. United Way Executive Director Bettye Emigh said ticket reservations and table purchases should be made by Jan. 22. Emigh said the United Way hopes to make the Mardi Gras Ball an annual event to go along with its annual A Taste of Dickson County as the two major fund-raisers for the giving campaign.
