The Vanleer Board of Aldermen will try once again to fill a vacancy when it meets at 7:00 tonight at Vanleer Town Hall. The vote on choosing somebody to complete the two-year term vacated by Donald Tinsley in December was put off last month and at last week’s work session Mayor Larry Robertson said he would open the floor for nominations at tonight’s meeting. The town posted notices at various locations after the January meeting urging anyone interested in filling the position to contact one of the remaining four aldermen. At last week’s work session, only the names of Kevin Miner and Jimmy Bass were mentioned as having expressed interest in the position. Both sought election to the five-member board in November’s election with Bass coming in sixth and Miner finishing 10th in the 11-candidate field. Tinsley resigned a month after being elected after the board replaced him as chief of the town’s volunteer fire department. There was no discussion at last week’s work session regarding the arrest of Alderman Westley Albright on two felony counts of solicitation of a minor for sex. Albright, who was present at Tuesday’s session, was charged Feb. 28 following an undercover operation by the Dickson County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children unit. Albright was re-elected to a two-year term in November.
