WADC dedicates board room in memory of late Commissioner Johnny Shelton

The Water Authority of Dickson County recently honored one of its founding commissioners by naming its board room in his honor. WADC Chairman Kyle Ruf and Executive Director Michael Adams were joined by members of Johnny Shelton’s family in dedicating the Commissioner John C. Shelton Board Room at the WADC’s headquarters on Cowan Road. A well-known Charlotte businessman, Shelton died Oct. 12 after a battle with cancer. Shelton had been a commissioner for the Harpeth Utility District and became a charter member of the WADC following the 2002 merger of area districts to form the Water Authority of Dickson County. During his 10-year tenure with the WADC, it completed its project to build a water treatment plant on the Cumberland River for a long-term water source and expanded into Hickman and Williamson counties. At its November meeting, the board of commissioners elected Chad Murphy of Charlotte to replace Shelton.
