Waverly tops Cougars on last-second shot; Lady Cougars roll 68-26 over Tigerettes

Waverly got a last-second jumper from Austin Mullinax to beat Dickson County’s Cougars 64-62 Friday night in the Cougar Den. The Cougars had battled back to tie the game after trailing by 11 at halftime, but Mullinax nailed the jumper with under two seconds on the clock to finish with 22 points for the night. JeQuan Lewis led Dickson County with 23 points while Tyler Spicer added 21. The Lady Cougars easily rolled over Waverly 68-26. DCHS led 32-9 at the half, allowing Coach Eve Hamilton to go to her bench early. Ten Lady Cougars hit the scoring column, led by Megan Billingsby with 10 points. The Cougars and Lady Cougars open holiday tournament action tomorrow. The Lady Cougars face CPA at 10 am Thursday in the Hickman County Above the Rim Christmas Invitational in Centerville. The Cougars take on Hewitt-Trussville of Alabama at 3 pm Thursday in the Bay Barnstorm Christmas Tournament in Panama City, Florida. Both tournaments continue through Saturday.
