With just a brief announcement on its Facebook page, the town of White Bluff has opened its new skate and bike park next door to the White Bluff Community Center. “The White Bluff Skate and Bike Park is open!” announced a post on Monday night. “Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to get this park open for our community.” At the May town council meeting, Projects Coordinator Jeff Martin said the weather had finally cooperated long enough to get the concrete pad poured and the installation of the park equipment donated by the town of Burns was beginning. Martin said a grand opening celebration that would include music and skate and bike competitions was being planned for July 20, but the park would be open well before that date. After the Burns Board of Commissioners voted in December to close its skate park, the town donated the equipment to White Bluff, which then allocated $10,000 from its fund balance to set up the park on the east side of the community center.
