11th Annual Memorial Day Service

DICKSON, Tenn. — As Memorial Day approaches, communities across the nation prepare to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Among those organizing the Dickson County Mayor’s Office plans on having the 11th Annual Memorial Day Service on May 27th at 10 A.M. At the War Memorial Building which can be located on 200 Center Avenue. If the weather does not permit it will be moved inside. In an interview with Maggie Nicholson, Assistant to the Mayor, she sheds some light on the event.

The Memorial Day Service Event promises a series of moments designed to pay respect to those who gave their lives in service. Attendees can expect a moving program that includes a stirring performance by a talented singer, the haunting melody of Taps—a call to remember the fallen—and a solemn reading of the names of the Fallen Soldiers, accompanied by the somber tolling of a bell. Additionally, a guest speaker, a veteran himself, will share reflections on the significance of the day and the enduring legacy of those who served. On top of that refreshments will be provided as well.

“People should attend this event to remember and recognize the people who gave their lives so that we can have freedom,” Nicholson explained. “Without their sacrifice, we wouldn’t enjoy the liberties we often take for granted. It’s a deeply moving service, one that I believe everyone should experience, veteran or not.”
